The 2-4 Crestwood Senior Girls' Flag Football team travelled to Mississauga on Wednesday to take on Holy Name of Mary. The team needed a win to secure a spot in the playoffs and extend their season. After going down on the second drive of the game, then turning the ball over on their own second drive, things were looking dire. However, an Avah Sedore interception kick-started what would be the most complete game of the season. Avah finished off the drive she started with a TD reception from QB Grace Van Volsen. Crestwood got another stop before another Avah Sedore TD, followed by a Marissa Gloyns 2-point conversion on a pass from Van Volsen, giving Crestwood a lead that they would not give back. Neve Murphy turned a Van Volsen pass into a long cutback touchdown reception, and Gloyns finished the Lions' scoring with a long option run. Crestwood closed out their season with a 26-20 win and a 3-4 record, good enough to clinch a playoff position. They will be heading back to Mississauga for a rematch with Holy Name in the quarter final next week, please wish them luck. Excellent work team!
