Crestwood's D1 and D2 curling teams took to the ice Wednesday at Donalda Club to begin the CISAA curling season with games against the squads from Bayview Glen.
On the D1 sheet, skip Alex Dong and his team played a strong game. Ryan Yao was a model of consistency at second, and vice Jayden Ng made some clutch shots, including back to back multiple rock takeouts in the 4th. Luke Chen and Gabrio Ng had strong showings in their first games for Crestwood. Despite a consistently strong performance from the Crestwood, some miraculous shots by BVG's skip left Crestwood trailing by 2 going into the final end. Thankfully, a well played final end and a perfect last shot by skip Alex secured a 4-4 tie for Crestwood.
The D2 squad battled through a back and forth roller coaster of a match, with clutch shots made throughout the game by all members of the team. It was an impressive first game for new curlers Quinn and Mashin, and a strong outing from the returning members of the team. In the end, Crestwood scored in the 6th and final end to finish the game with a 4-4 tie.
Both teams are in action again next week as they travel to the Richmond Hill Curling Club to take on Lauremont School
