The Varsity Girls Hockey team played their regular season finale last night against Nichols School.
Prior to the game, Brynn Rice, Marissa Gloyns, Sarah Staley, Avah Sedore, and Grace van Volsen were honored as the 5 seniors finishing their CPC Hockey careers. The girls were all joined by their coaches, CPC Admin, and their parents and family to commemorate the occasion. All Five are moving onto NCAA Schools.
Brynn Rice: Roger Williams University
Marissa Gloyns: Dartmouth College
Sarah Staley: Sarah Staley (2027)
Avah Sedore: Boston College
Grace van Volsen: Providence University
The game started with both teams trading chances. CPC had many opportunities, but Nichols' goalie stood strong. Nichols would take a 2-0 lead into the second, but Marissa Gloyns closed the gap making it 2-1 early in the 2nd. CPC continued to push but could not tie the game. CPC was called for a penalty late in the 3rd and Nichols capitalized and then added an empty netter to take the game 4-1. The result means that Nichols will be traveling back to CPC next Friday in the CISAA Semi Finals. This will be the third straight year these two teams have played in the semis with Nichols taking the last two in overtime.
The game is next Friday, Feb 20, 1:00 PM at Pleasantview Arena.
