The Varsity Girls Hockey team travelled to Appleby College yesterday to take on the defending CISAA Champions. The girls were coming in with confidence after avenging previous semi final losses to Nichols School.
The game started off with both teams trading chances. Avah Sedore made some amazing saves to keep the Blue Dogs at bay and Grace van Volsen hit a post on a hard shot from the slot in the first.
No one could break the ice until late in the 2nd when Appleby capitalized in CPC's zone to go up 1-0.
The game stayed at 1-0 throughout the third. CPC had some quality looks but couldn't solve Appleby's goaltender. Avah continued to play great keeping the Lions in the game but when CPC pulled her for the extra attacker, Appleby took advantage and added 2 empty net goals to secure their 3-0 win.
The coaches are incredibly proud of the team's efforts this year. The girls committed to many early morning practices and grew throughout the year both individually and as a team. We thank them for their efforts and look forward to wrapping the season up next month at OFSAA.
