The Varsity Girls Hockey team traveled to Brooklin to participate in their annual high school tournament.
In their first game, they took on St. Martin's for the third time this season. The girls split their games with them at the Everest tournament and hoped to come out on top in the rubber match. Both teams traded chances but neither could score until St. Martin's scored with 2 minutes left in the game. CPC threw everything they could at them in the last minute but could not muster a goal, falling 1-0.
But finally, the girls broke through on offense. In their second game against St. Mary, they exploded on offense and put up 9 goals. Grace van Volsen led the charge with 2 goals, and 2 assists. Anna Toering and Sarah Staley also scored twice, while Brynn Belleau and Gem Winters also scored. BIG shout out to Lucy Terzievski as she, after 2 plus years, FINALLY got her first CPC Lions goal. The entire team was ecstatic for Lucy to get this monkey of her back.
In their final game of the day, the girls took on St Peter from Peterborough. They came out flying and roared to an early 3-0 lead with Neve Thatcher, Mia Myer, and Neve Murphy scoring. The girls cruised from there carrying the play most of the game and then Grace van Volsen iced the game with a late goal to seal a 4-0 win.
Both goalies, Avah Sedore and Addi Adomatis got a shut out on the day and combined, only have up one goal on the day putting the team's goals against average under 1 on the season.
The girls will resume their season when we get back from the break when they travel to play Nichols School on Jan 7th.
