The Varsity Girls hockey took on the Blue Dogs yesterday. After settling for a tie two weeks ago, the girls were looking to secure a victory to put a stranglehold on first place.
The game started with both teams getting some chances. CPC would find themselves shorthanded midway through the first and Appleby capitalized taking a 1-0 lead. However, CPC had their first powerplay and Grace van Volsen scored a beauty, tieing the game. However, Appleby responded score 30 seconds later and led 2-1 at the end of the first.
Appleby then went up 3-1 early in the second after CPC made a careless turnover in their end.
Grace and Teagan both hit posts later in the period and the girls remained down by 2 after 2.
The third period saw the Blue Dogs take over the game. They would add two more goals and sprint to a 5-1 lead, which ended up being the final.
The team will look to rebound next week as they play against BSS.
