The Varsity Girls Hockey team traveled to Appleby College to take on their arch nemesis yesterday. They were looking to have a more successful trip then last season.
The game started out with both teams trading chances. Eventually, Appleby capitalized on a break away late in the first on took a 1-0 lead. The Blue Dogs continued their relentless fore check and eventually took a 3-0 lead.
The game was looking very similar to last year's trip, but Mia Meyer flipped the game. She scored within 15 sec of the Appleby's goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. CPC later got a powerplay and Marissa Gloyns roofed a shot from the point to make it 3-2. The tables had turned and CPC was taking control.
The girls came firing in the 3rd and Neve Thatcher tied the game less than 2 minutes in. CPC continued to press but could not get the go ahead goal and the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
The girls are back in action next Monday when they take on Havergal at Leaside Arena.
